Kikonko Lodge, Lake Albert,  is situated in-between the two most visited national parks of Uganda, Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth.

Within Kikonko’s vicinity one can find the Kabwoya Game Reserve, which can be considered the hidden gem of Uganda with a lot of antelopes and buffaloes.

The Bugoma Forest is only 40 minutes drive away and offers amazing walks through dense vegetation with the possibility of seeing non-habituated chimpanzees for a fraction of the price visitors would pay in Kibale Forest which is is a 4 hour drive away.

Where we are...

Is it not far from Kampala?
No, its not!

If you are coming from the capital Kampala, you travel for 200km to Hoima town (that will take 3,5hours), then another 32km (half an hour) to Kikonko Lodge, where you can see Lake Albert. Kikonko Lodge is built 250meter above Lake Albert Sea level.

A bit of history

Lake Albert was discovered in 1864 by Samuel Baker. At that time he called it Albert Nyanza, after “Prince Albert”. The Congolese president Mobutu Sese Seko named it after himself in the 20th century.
